Arsenal in talks with Real Madrid's Morientes Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is chasing Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes. The Sun says Wenger wants to pair the Spaniard with Thierry Henry to boost the Gunners' bid for Euro glory.
Morientes told The Sun: "I'm proud that teams like Arsenal and Chelsea are interested in me. There are some big clubs in England and it's a very competitive league.
"I've been away from Real Madrid for a year and I don't know what will happen. If an offer comes from England then first of all Real Madrid have to take the decision. But I would like to go there."
Highbury vice-chairman David Dein contacted the player's advisers and was quoted a £17.5 million transfer fee.

REAL PONDER VIEIRA SWAP DEAL
Reports suggest that the chances of Patrick Vieira leaving Arsenal have increased with news that long-time admirers Real Madrid may offer Fernando Morientes to the Gunners in an attempt to land the French midfielder. The Spanish giants reaffirmed their interest in the player earlier this week although Arsenal responded angrily to their approach. Real president Florentino Perez has said Vieira is "the best in the world" in his position and is reported to be willing to let Morientes, who spent last season on loan at Monaco, move to Highbury as part of any deal. £10 off the Gunners home shirt while stocks last... It is believed that Vieira may be interested in a move abroad as he remains unconvinced that the Gunners can sustain a Champions League challenge after several disappointing European campaigns. The 28-year-old is not due back in training at Highbury until next Wednesday and may interest Inter Milan and Barcelona as well as Real Madrid. Although Real have made no official approach for Vieira they are believed to be talking to his agent. It is also believed that the Arsenal board discussed Vieira's future at a meeting on Thursday. Vieira signed a new contract with the Gunners last summer which still has three years to run. Earlier in the week the midfielder's agent, Steve Kuttner, played down the speculation saying: "Just because Perez says he admires a player doesn't mean he is going to sign him. "If Real Madrid want to sign Patrick Vieira they will have to contact Arsenal." Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood had said about the speculation: "Real being linked with Patrick has happened so often before and it is starting to become irritating. "We have no intention of selling him."

I would love moro to go to arsenal! they are my favourite and the best team in the premiership.
what's there not to like about henry??! i think he is the worlds best, and him and fernando would make a fantastic pair, not as good as moro and raul but just about the next best thing i reckon. wenger is a fantastic coach and with players like pires i think moro would fit in perfectly. only thing is they got reyes not long ago and i dont know what they would plan to do with him if they did sign moro. And the arsenal fan in me doesnt want Viera to leave. but this story has been featured in the slightly more reliable press as well as the comic papers that make stuff up, so, wait and see i guess.

Hi Ast, don't get me wrong, but I have no reason why i dislike Henry. He's one of the best footballers in this world but when I see him on TV, I'd rather change the channel or turn off the tv. Until now I still figure it out why I do not like him..... but I do like Arsenal but am not a fan of them.
