Real sign Sergio Ramos (Sevilla FC)

Realmadrid.com - Official communique:

Authorized people from the player Sergio Ramos had payed in the Liga de Futbol Profesional´s head office the cancelling contract clause (27 million euros) that linked the player with the Seville Football Club. Either Real Madrid and the player decided to proceed with that way of payment after considering Seville FC that it won´t be an "hostile method". Ramos will be a Real Madrid player for the next eight seasons.

~ Consistent performances ~
The 19-year-old was tied to the Andalusian outfit until 2008, having extended his contract last November, but his consistent performances since making his Primera División debut during the 2003/04 campaign had made him one of the most heralded young talents in Spain. Madrid, with money to spend after the sale of Michael Owen and a hole to fill following the departure of Walter Samuel, had made little secret of their desire to land the teenager, who himself was known to favour a switch to the capital.

~ Spanish first ~
In May, Ramos became the youngest player to win a Spain cap since goalkeeper Juan Acuña against Switzerland in 1941 and is currently with the squad preparing for games against Canada and Serbia and Montenegro. Ramos, who can play at right-back or in central defence, will become the first Spaniard signed by Madrid since July 2000.

Great transfer, Ramos will give the necessary stability to the defence and is additionally a man for the future.

well that's cricket. at least owen can take comfort in the fact that they didnt sell him to get money for a player who plays in exactly the same position, like i recall they have done to some people.

100% agree, that's laughable! In contrast to Football Club Barcelona, for example, have Real Madrid no more debts. Los Blancos can afford that amount loosely, but nevertheless they don't throw their money blindly away.

For me it is a clever move, they sold Owen for more than the double that they paid a year before and buy a defender, who was really necessary, at least more than Michael, after the transfer of Robinho, additionally, Baptista can play also there.

It's the best for Michael - he can play regularly - and Real Madrid, now the squad is more balanced.

i think that owen is needed for the team. last season, he didn't get chances to play much, but he scored many goals. in fact, i personally think that he's a great striker

to be honest, when the first time i like football its because the players look but as the time goes by and i know more about football, then for me the look doesn't matter anymore
