Man Utd star Ronaldo to visit Indonesia's tsunami-hit Aceh
JAKARTA (AFP) - Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is to visit Indonesia's tsunami-hit province of Aceh this weekend to raise funds for victims of the massive December disaster.
The 20-year-old Portuguese international will arrive on Saturday and fly to Aceh the same day where he will be reunited with tsunami child survivor Martunis, an organiser of Ronaldo's trip told AFP.
Martunis triggered an outpouring of aid from Portuguese football officials and players after he was pictured wearing Portugal's national colours after surviving the December 26 disaster.
The youngster is believed to have survived on puddle water and dried noodles after he became separated from his family as they fled the fast-moving tsunami that left more than 217,000 dead and missing around the Indian Ocean.
Martunis, who lost his mother and four siblings, met with the Portugal's national team in Lisbon last week and watched his heroes defeat Slovakia 2-0 in a World Cup qualifier.
Ronaldo is scheduled to pay a courtesy call to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Sunday and attend a tsunami relief charity dinner.
